Subwoofer constantly disconnects and reconnects

Schmitty 2/1/2022

this thing sounds amazing when it works. the subwoofer seems to disconnect and reconnect multiple times when watching an episode of a show. ive tried just about everything on the forums to resolve the issue and no luck. its unfortunate that this started happening a month after the warranty ended.

Its a great system.... When it works

Jarret 1/15/2022

i want to love the system i really do but, for the pricepoint is should just work and not give any issues. ive tried everything from factory resetting to updating firmware, to reconnecting the speakers nothing. the subwoofer/rear firing speakers keep cutting up no matter the content i stream. the real problem is the sub. it just keeps cutting up and ruining the audio anytime theres even minor bass. it gets really bad when im using bluetooth. its really hard justifying the price when the system is always having some sort of issues with use. let me end on a good note, when working, it really does bring a beautiful immersive feel to the living room, bass could be a little better but overall quality is nice when working. i just really would like a fix for the cutting up issues.

Growing pains but patience recommended

Jack Frost 12/21/2021

purchased approximately 1 year ago. first soundbar failed within a week and returned for another. samsung support was very good helping with diagnostic testing which determined a hardware failure within the soundbar. support also coordinated pick up by shipper and replacement. initially behavior of soundbar was erratic - intermittent popping sounds from rear speakers, symphony mode with my q90t tv would not establish. firmware updates across several months for both the tv and soundbar resolved all of the problems i experienced. at this time all features work and the patience has paid off with an amazing audio experience.

Plug and Play!

OrangeSkies 11/22/2021

was super easy to set-up and am loving thr stereo picture this set-up creates. after updating the software on the soundbar, the tv stopped recognizing the arc input… after a helpful call to samsung customer support, i learned that after a software update - you may need to unplug your tv for 30 seconds to reset - it worked like a charm. highly recommended!!!

Regretful purchase

Nate 9/2/2021

this is my first foray into the soundbar game. i chose this soundbar because of the various reviews i found on youtube and the fact that this bar was compatible with all sound formats. i wanted to like this soundbar; however, there are many annoying errors that i have been experiencing. the subwoofer appears to going out now, i hear a random popping noise. this issue was not resolved by doing a reset. while streaming a video app on several occasions, i would get a rapid clicking noise that would only resolve if you power off and on the soundbar. these issues happened outside the return window. i regret this purchase.

Good sound.

Frank 4/15/2021

i have being looking for floor stands for the rear speakers. i bought 2 stands from amazon that i had to return because they don't fit the rear speakers. i contacted samsung via phone and live chat, nobody seem to know what type of floor stand is compatible with the rear speakers. i don't like how they look in the picture and i don't want to keep them on the floor. if there's no floor stand that properly fits the rear speakers, then the item description is misleading, because the description shows the rear speakers on floor stands.

Subwoofer connection bad.

Cbtjuh 2/9/2021

everytime i turn tv on the subwoofer has to be replugged or there is no sub and rear sound. also been expierencing massive blow from rear speakers a few times. would not recommend, i would if connectivity wasn't so bad. it's the only device using 5ghz band in the house, rest is cable or 2.4 or 5g mobile data. q symphony is a joke aswell with the 55q90t its more of a hinder lol. other than that the soundbar is good, but design is poor and not handy. no signal blocks for the subwoofer so that's not the problem, it's the product, too many people have it only adaptive and standard works with rears.

A great soundbar.. when it works!

Rudy 1/24/2021

this soundbar is really great when it works, but the issues i am encountering forces me to recommend against purchasing this soundbar. when using this soundbar, it can sometime work flawlessly for hours, while sometimes noises pop in or out, even after changing the format sent from the tv. restarting the soundbar (full power cycle by unplugging the cord) usually fixes the issue for a few hours, but it is really tedious. the second issue i am encountering is when connecting my ps5 to the hdmi port of the soundbar. every once in a while the screen will go black and white, and at times the color palette is inverted (green becomes red). restarting the soundbar immediately fixes the issue, but it is also quite annoying.

Too Expensive for Product Quality

waiji 1/22/2021

I had high hopes for this sound bar, as it is supposed to be the top of the line that Samsung produces, and I had heard good things about it. While the overall quality isn't bad, it fails to live up to the expectations one would expect at the retail price point. First the good: - Setup is as easy as plugging things in. Some users reported that if you plug things in the wrong order, the setup becomes very difficult. As long as you follow the order recommended in the manual (sub / rears first), you should be fine. - The audio quality during movies gives a real theatre experience. If all you want to do is watch movies on this thing, it is a solid choice. The not so good: - The engineers at Samsung made a few odd design choices. For some reason, they opted to put the input and selected settings display on the top of the soundbar. The only way to know exactly what you have selected is to either get up, or install and setup the Samsung Things App. - There was no QR code, or even an obvious reference to the Samsung Smart Things app that is able to control the soundbar. Not a big deal, but at this price point, you should be able to expect every detail to be thought of. - The rear speakers don't seem to be quite balanced properly. - None of the speakers can be balanced, and there are no room tuning features that are present on many modern sound systems in this price category. The bad: - The soundstage seems very narrow, especially while listening to music. - The mids and highs have a muddy quality to them, again, especially while listening to music. - It is pretty obvious that this soundbar is not designed, or tuned at all for music. It's for making explosions shake your home theater. A lot can be done with proper tuning, however, and I feel that the lack of any effort to make this useable for enjoying music is unforgivable at this price point. Bottom line: It's a decent soundbar. Possible a great soundbar if you want to watch action movies. It's a terrible soundbar if you want to listen to music. There are flaws in the overall design, including materials, and display layouts. It feels like they missed a lot of important details. Maybe they will make some improvements in future through software updates, but for now, it seems like a lot of buck, for very little bang.

Lacks Quality for Price Point

Exsangus1 1/22/2021

I was very excited to try this Atmos Bar out, but was left disappointed. First the good stuff: - Very easy setup - It makes you feel like you are in a movie theater (this is a short list) The not so great stuff: - Sound quality is what you would expect at a $500-600 price point - The bar is tuned for movies, leaving the soundstage cramped, and producing muddy sounding mids during music playback. - Alexa is so bad, I turned it off. Alexa triggers during dialogue in movies and tv shows, as well as from sound effects (no human voices whatsoever) - If you sending an audio signal from an older device (one that doesn't support digital bitstreams) or you don't have the digital signal turned on, the bar frequently cuts out for a second or so at a time - the material seems a bit cheap, and the design isn't great - they put the info display on the top of the bar, so you either have to stand over the bar to see what the settings are, or use the app making the remote basically useless. If you aren't an audiophile, or have an audiophiles ear, or you only want this sound bar to watch movies with, it's not a bad choice. However, if you care about sound quality, I would not recommend this bar at this price point. Maybe if it is on sale for under $1000, but I certainly wouldn't pay more than that for this product.

Frustrating experience

Maya 1/2/2021

Frustrating experience. Issues with quality of the product and quality of the sound. I received the Q950 with a rear speaker not turning on. The soundbar was doing the job but not a real immersion experience. I blamed the missing rear speaker. After calls with tech, and sales... i sent it back & ordered a new one. This time delivered by fedex with a destroyed packaging. The material seemed working despite the visible chocks on it. While listening music worked the sound from the tv was a total failure. Voice totally fade down. Volume fluctuating during a movie. Sound temporary on mute when changing the volume. A disaster. Did I had the worst luck with 2 fully defective q950.

Great setup! Not sure why all the hate...

IamDavid 1/1/2021

i now own both the q950t and the lg sn11rg and can say without a doubt the samsung is far superior in every way. we matched the q950t with a new frame tv and couldn't be happier. zero issues with any of my devices or built in apps. simple to setup and operate. the one disappointment is needing a secondary streaming at all. unfortunately the built in apps don't support atmos to the level i want. disney plus doesn't support atmos at all. the nvidia shield is the best match to fully deliver on all the q950t's capabilities. (the shield is the only device that also supports atmos for plex) great job samsung!

Horrible customer service/ useless repair center

DocMcoy 12/18/2020

out of the box, the subwoofer would unpair everytime it turned off. sent it in for repair, but the problem could not be recreated. came back trashed. cust service just gave me the run around instead of replacing the unit. generated ticket number after ticket number, always "escalating" to another department that would never follow up. gave up after a month of trying to sort it out, was refused a refund, except i bought it over the website. so while customer service submitted my request for a refund for a 15 day turn araound, i had printed my return lable off the website and shipped it back within an hour of waiting on hold. tldr; doesnt work out of the box and outsourced customer service will run you around avoid at all cost!!!

The Ultimate All-In-One Home Theater Sound System

TechWithBrett1 12/16/2020

The Samsung HW-Q950T Soundbar has totally blown me away! I have been a fan of having a 5.1 surround sound system at home for as long as I can remember. Lately, having the latest receiver, speakers and wires everywhere have caused more issues than it is worth to keep the system going. This is where the Samsung Q950T shines. To set up this 9.1.4ch system, all you need to do is provide power to the rear speakers & subwoofer, then plug in the soundbar, attach the included High-Speed HDMI cable and the speakers automatically pair and you are ready to be transported to another world. During my initial test, I did run into a slight issue where the audio was pausing while doing some normal streaming or when changing the volume. After linking the Soundbar to the SmartThings app and doing a firmware update, this issue disappeared. After the update, I also noticed an increase in the performance of the rear speakers. The soundbar remote is pretty simple but functional. You can change between the two HDMI inputs, Wi-Fi sound, Bluetooth, or Digital Audio Output (eARC/ARC). The remote can control volume, subwoofer volume, mute, and can also adjust the intensity of the speaker groups: bass, treble, center, side, wide, front top, rear, rear top to tune the sound system to your liking. You can also change the sound mode from Standard, Surround, Game, & Adaptive sound. The only issue I have with the remote is that it can't control the devices plugged directly into the HDMI on the bar. This, however, can be done with the TV remote. I used the Samsung Q950T with the 65" Samsung Q90T and they work amazing together! There is a feature called Q-Symphony that turns the audio on the TV on in combination with the sound system for a more full sound. If you have trouble hearing people talking during movies, this is a great option as it really boosts up the front speakers. The main issue I have had with the Q950T is getting it to always recognize that it is connected to the TV over eARC. The Q90T would automatically default back to TV ARC and I was able to fix it by adjusting the settings on the TV to use eARC. As for sound qualify and the performance of the 9.1.4 channel system, this is the best sound system I have ever had in my home. The bass is strong, the rear speakers are crisp and when watching Atmos supported content, I feel totally immersed in the experience.

Great Sounding Sound Bar for Our Living Room

Miyabi 12/16/2020

The Samsung Q950T is a terrific set of speakers that we are happy to be using in our living room. While I don't think it quite meets the same level of experience that our dedicated home theatre with in-wall speakers delivers it has definitely transformed our main living area into a much better place for watching movies and TV. We spend almost all of our time in this part of the house so to have such a noticeable increase in audio quality in this large open space makes a big difference. The separate wireless satellites project sound toward the back of the seating area and also reflect sound off of the ceiling. (The sound bar also has up-firing speakers that reflect sound off of the ceiling.) I've noticed the effect from the seating area but once you move to another part of the our living space it seems to go away. This isn't a problem as you can still hear the audio (and very loud and clear audio) from anywhere in the room but you should know there is a sweet spot where the speakers will converge all channels. My husband is convinced in the "spatial audio" aspect of this sound bar but this isn't something I focused on. What I certainly do appreciate is the clarity and power that this sound bar provides. We used to struggle to hear the news from our dining area on the occasion we had this on during dinner. But now, with the terrific clarity provided for voice with this system we don't have that problem. My music and workout videos are way better quality now as well. Streaming audio from the speakers using Alexa is a natural experience and with a high quality source I am really impressed with the sound quality. While the price is little more than what I would like to pay for a speaker setup, I certainly appreciate the increased quality of experience the Q950T delivers compared to our old sound bar. I'm not sure I could go back to the old audio knowing now what I would be missing. This was money well spent.

Solid Dolby Atmos Soundbar

DPBfree1 12/16/2020

The latest iteration of Samsungs full Dolby Atmos sound-bar, the Q950T continues to impress. With now a 9.1.4 sound field up from the previous years 7.1.2, it adds an additional 2 channels that help to create a more enveloping sound around the user. The thinner sound-bar is presented with a new design that gives a more directed speaker placement of its side channel speakers. Very little has changed from the previous 2019 model to its wireless rear speakers or subwoofer. Gone is the all-metal grills of the previous year to which this year Samsung has switched to an all fabric speaker covering. Also gone is the Harmon Kardon branding located on all speakers of the 2019 model. At first glance, one might think of this choice as a downgrade but most high-end speakers use fabric for speaker coverings rather than metal for best sound and minimal distortion. Most audiophiles will not find this concerning but welcome the change. One major change is the small display that is no longer located in the front of the soundbar but on top. This is my main reason for only 4 stars. Had they left the display in front like the 2019 model I would have given it 5 stars but this change really is a negative for the user and hopefully will change in upcoming iterations. The sound quality is impressive and very well balanced. The new Subwoofer appears to have a better wireless connection compared to the previous model and delivers cleaner sound. One of my biggest gripes of the 2019 model was that at times you would get distorted sounds from the sub due to bad wireless connections. All in all the new Q950T provides an exceptional Dolby Atmos Sound while making setup and speaker positioning a breeze for almost any room in the house. The added channels give the listener so much more to hear and allow them to hear more of the little nuances within the larger listening area. New this year is Alexa built right in. Also new is the Q symphony that works with newer Qled TVs and uses not only the soundbar system but also the TV speakers to produce the sound stage. Unfortunately my 2019 QLED 8K tv is not one supported to test this feature. The ability to have a wide immersive sound stage using only 3 speakers in comparison to what most systems need 5-7, Samsung does not disappoint with the Q950T sound, ease of use, and ability to have the best of Dolby Atmos in a compact package.

The Ultimate All-In-One Home Theater Sound System

TechWithBrett0 12/16/2020

Superb Crisp Sound

SasuM1 12/15/2020

The Samsung Q950T is spectacular and crisp. I managed to hear this at CES this year during a brief demo at the Samsung stage. Having it in-home is a different experience. Initially, I had major connectivity issues hence a dock in points. The Samsung app did not recognize the Soundbar and didn't recognize my eArc of my 2020 LG CX TV. Also, I was not impressed with the sound at this stage. After troubleshooting, I reset the soundbar and Wow. What a difference. It picked up on the connectivity right away and sounded incredibly crisp and loud. The subwoofer provides a hearty deep bass and the side speakers are so well balanced to round out the sound. If you want to feel like you're watching a movie in a theater this soundbar will give you that experience. The display is on the top of the soundbar towards the back. The interface feels dated and only has a few options. I'm of the view that this can be greatly improved. This causes another .5 star dock. Sound with different items: Netflix / Atmos / 4K programming: Absolutely incredible. I always try Planet Earth first to hear and see how good the quality is. Exceeds expectations Video Games: The soundbar is perfect for an interactive experience with Video Games. I played Call of Duty to try it out and it was just as good as wearing high-end gaming headphones, with a richer and more robust sound. I found I had to manually alter the side speakers and bass for different applications to get it entirely to my preference. There is meant to be adaptive sound and I didn't give it a chance to truly get to where I needed it to be. Rather I sped up the process of fine-tuning the sound to my liking for each application. The sound and auditory experience merit 5+ Stars. The connectivity issues and lackluster display / interface combine to dock the sound bar a star. I received this product at a substantial discount for an honest review.

Sounds Amazing

Anneforgettable4739 12/15/2020

The Samsung HW-Q950T is, quite frankly, a very nice sound bar. It replaced some audiophile quality floor speakers we had, and while they don't quite compare to audiophile speakers, they are very close, especially with Q-Symphony setup. Not to mention, they take up WAY less space than floor standing ones. But these speakers can do something our floor speakers couldn't, these can stream directly from my phone and tablet and that's a feature I really like. We do have a soundbar setup in our bedroom and that one doesn't even come close to the sound quality of these speakers. I wouldn't object to getting another Q950T sound bar and hooking it up to the Samsung KS8000 Tv in the bedroom. It has Alexa built in, but since my TV has Alexa built in as well as my Fire Cube, it's not really needed. These speakers have 4 different sound modes: Surround sound expansion, Game Pro, Standard and Adaptive. We have not connected the soundbar up to the SmartThings app just yet, but we will be doing that soon enough, as soon as we remember too. We have this Q950T sound bar connected to our Samsung Q90T Tv and it's quite simply a perfect pair together, especially with the Q-Symphony set up.

Sound and setup

Music2 12/15/2020

i really love the sound and the setup was extremely easy. i do have a problem with having symphony sound with the soundbar. i connected my apple tv and cable to the soundbar directly and the soundbar connected to the tv via arc hdmi. the option of having the tv sound and the sound bar does not show up in sound setting option. i was told by samsung support was the only way to have it work was to connect both external sources to directly to the tv and then connect the hdmi arc to the soundbar. in that case it did work but there was voice sync issues that could not be corrected. or use an optical cable, which was not an option. will there be a software update to correct this?

Our sound bar arrived on Wednesday, I must say this thing rocks the house. The audio quality is amazing. It's a great addition to the Q90 Tv in the main room. I would definitely recommend this to everyone that asks. Setting up the Alexia control for volume and music was super simple.

nice sound, but as others have noted, it's not ready for prime time. the subwoofer and surround speakers constantly drop the connection so i have to reconnect them every time i want to watch/listen. at this price point, it should work right out of the box.

Excellent, Big Sound!!

bigrobstunner1 12/1/2020

I recently purchased a Samsung Q90T 65" and was looking for a soundbar to compliment. I researched for quite a while and after looking at several systems, I landed on the Q950T. The device came in a large box and was packaged nicely and securely. The box did weigh 60lbs, so you may need help moving it into your home. My first suggestion is to make sure you read all the instructions that are included with the soundbar. There is a very specific way to plugin and activate the system. If not done correctly it can add to the set-up time. Overall it took me about 10 minutes from box to setup. My initial impression was sadly not the greatest as I didn't have the proper HDMI cable to accompany the device. A suggestion to Samsung would be to have one included in the box. The TV has eARC and having a supported HDMI is a must!! There are multiple ways to connect including wifi and Bluetooth but by far the eARC HDMI is the best. Once I procured the proper cable, boy was I impressed!! The sound of this beast is quite impressive!! Part of the setup process is syncing your Q950T with the Samsung Smart Things app. I can say, this app has come a long way. It was very easy to set up and makes it a breeze to use. The one complaint I have is the display for the Q950T is on the top of the main bar, which makes it a hassle to use. I would love to see the display on the front so I don't have to open the app to double-check the settings. The Dolby Atmos when watching supported content is Unbelievable. The sound is BIG!!! I was quite impressed with how the sound filled the room. The upward-firing bar and rear speaker set up make for a theater-like experience. Overall, I would suggest anyone looking for BIG, room-filling sound, this is the bar for you. This Q950T is stylish and packed with the latest and greatest tech to take your entertainment to the next level.

Best Overall Sound System

speed45 11/30/2020

This is by far the best sound bar sound system overall that I have seen and used. The audio quality is by far so superior than others out there. I love the ability of the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with Alexa Built In. The craftsmanship on this product is made with high quality material that I feel will last for a lifetime. I really like the sound quality feedback of the speakers and the subwoofer. This really makes the sound go all over my living room and others love the high quality surround sound as well.

Powerful immersive sound

jschauer97 11/30/2020

I recently purchased the Samsung HW-Q950T soundbar to replace my older bulky surround sound in the living room. I knew to expect a big difference not only because it is a higher class of device than our previous system, but also since it supports so many more of the latest audio codec standards. This system has 20 individual speakers with 14 discrete audio channels in it. With that number of speakers in my old system it would have filled my living room with speakers and cables. This system is discreate and wireless, which I was looking forward too compared to what I had. I was expecting a huge increase in the quality of spatial audio as compared to my older 5.1 surround system and it surely did not disappoint. The big difference is no wire mess and having to run speaker cable around the room. I learned that in a living room with high ceilings like mine the spatial audio delivered by the Samsung HW-Q950T was very well defined. This system had great audio quality and filled the room with sound and with good audio imaging it was convincing that you were in the action and it is coming from specific locations around and above you. The Samsung Q950T blew the competition away with its room filling spatial sound. Having wireless rear speakers that have speaker pointed toward the listener and a separate channel pointed upward to bounce sound off your ceiling made for a great listing experience. Considering these rear speakers are wireless its really easy to find a good location for these speakers, which I really enjoyed compared to running and hiding wires. With this soundbar it is easy to get fooled by your own ears as far as where the sound is coming, this makes for a great immersive experience. If you are in the market for great soundbar with Atmos and all the latest tech put the Samsung HW-Q950T on the top of your list. The sound quality of this Samsung HW-Q950T setup is amazing, even compared to much higher priced systems on the market. TV and movie dialogue are clear and accurate and when listing to music its very immersive. The sharp highs and hard-hitting bass from the powerful wireless sub makes the whole experience very enjoyable. The Samsung HW-Q950T in the power department is also very impressive, it will fill any living room with immersive sound at 30 percent volume. The Samsung HW-Q950T is a breeze to setup and configure, especially if you have other Samsung products The built in Alexa was easy to setup and works very well which was a huge bonus for me. The Samsung HW-Q950T exceeded any of my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic sounding soundbar

mattpayne92 11/30/2020

Let me start by saying this is the best sounding soundbar I've ever owned and I've owned other similarly priced soundbars in the past and this one replaces a sony soundbar with rear speakers that I have. The main benefit of this soundbar compared to others I've seen is the amount of speakers in the 4 piece kit. The side and upfiring speakers do a really great job of actually making it sound like the sound is coming from the side and above you. And the rear speakers are absolutely amazing as well. I tested the speakers on many genres including general music, blockbuster movies and normal tv/youtube videos and the speaker adjusts great to each of those listening types. However, I remove 1 star for a couple reasons. The app doesn't work with my pixel phone because it's on the newest android version so I'm not familiar with the settings that allow you to fine tune your settings. Also, the screen to view the volume is on the top of the device which isn't viewable when sitting down. Other than those 2 things, I would still buy this speaker any day because of how amazing it sounds and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sounding soundbar.

Incredible sound stage with deep bass!

chithien 11/25/2020

The HW-Q950T sound-bar is one of a kind and a force to be reckoned with. I did not encounter any issues with setup and installations when I followed the manual verbatim. The wireless speakers, sound-bar and subwoofer all connected flawlessly. Note: You must connect the Subwoofer first, then the left and right surround speakers and the sound bar last in that sequence for the system to paired correctly. Otherwise; if you just plug it in randomly, you will spend an hour trying to get the system to connect and paired manually. As far as sounds goes, the Q950T delivers the very best sound that a sound bar can offer. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats are essentially why I loved this sound bar. It feels so surreal watching movies and I enjoyed the immersive 360 deg effects from the discrete surround sounds in the sound stage. The sound bar is able to get super loud without succumbing to distortions. The bass is deep and is great for action movies with explosions scenes or horror films with scary things creeping up behind or above you. Listening to music can be an immersive experience as well like at a symphony or opera. This sound bar can play any genres of music with well balanced and true to life precision sounds. Each drum beat, key and notes as well as vocal are accurate and clear. You can reminisce over classical music or jamming out to your favorite pop songs. Unfortunately, this is the first time that I'm disappointed in Samsung when it comes to the design and quality of material. Despite it being a flagship and premium sound-bar, it's made mostly out of plastic and fabric material which makes it look cheap and a step down from Samsung's other sound bar that use metal grilles. I own the Samsung N950 earlier model and the metal grilles and solid built stands out when compared to the Q950T. Furthermore, Samsung's decided to put the LED screen on the top side of the soundbar this year was also a bad choice. You have to stand directly in front of the sound bar to make adjustments, see output format or volume level which is very inconvenience since most people sit down while watching tv/movies. Last but not least, The decision to use fabric instead of metal grilles like its previous model not only makes the sound bar looks inferior and low quality but also a lint, dirt and pet hair magnet and a scratch post for cats. It is very hard to keep clean unless you constantly run a lint roller over it every hour. It seems like an after thought on Samsung part

Easy Audio Upgrade for an TV

DancinGeorge 11/25/2020

Lately, it seems a lot of people are buying massive new televisions. A 70-inch screen is certainly impressive to have, but unfortunately most people seem to skip over on their audio. Those fancy large screen displays, usually don't have much more than two down-firing speakers. A good upgrade to go with any display is through the purchase of a soundbar. A basic soundbar is the perfect upgrade and certainly going to improve the sound quality. However, if you want the best audio you will need a soundbar that is properly equip to decode the newer audio codex like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. This soundbar is the perfect solution for those that want the best audio technologies at home. If you are going to go to the store, I suggest you bring a friend because this box weighs 61 pounds! The box is also over 4 feet long and includes the soundbar, one 8-inch subwoofer, two rear surrounds, 4 power cables and a remote with batteries. The soundbar can be mounted to a wall if desired and so can the rear surrounds. A paper template is provided along with two brackets if you wish to mount your soundbar to the wall. Unfortunately, no wall mounts are provided for the rear speakers.' Setup is incredibly easy. All you need to do to get up and running is place the soundbar where you want. Connect the HDMI and power cable. Attach the power cable to the subwoofer and the rears and you are good to go. Seriously, no actual setup process is needed and it works straight out of the box. You can also choose to ditch the HDMI cable and use a Bluetooth connection if you have a compatible Samsung television. The top of the soundbar has a tiny display that you will only see if you happen to stand over it which is not very useful. If you have a display that supports HDMI-CEC you don't wouldn't really need the included remote as you can use your regular T.V. remote to turn up, turn down or mute the volume. If volume is something you are after, this soundbar is certainly going to deliver. In my small space, I never had the volume past 10 and that was loud enough to not only fill my entire living room, but the rest of the house as well! Sound quality is pretty good to with excellent mids and highs. Dialog is very clear and easily heard. For me, I found the bass to be rather weak. There was not enough punch or ruble to it as I would like. I tried different settings, but found very little difference. Channel separation was also very nice and easily distinguishable. Overall, good product!

Thoroughly Impressed

Bkfarrell 11/25/2020

Using this opportunity to replace an older Digital Optical based surround sound system that had big limitations. All I can say after installing the Q950T is WOW, this thing is amazing. With support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, my theater room is ready to boom. It is absolutely amazing that a system like this can accurately place a sound in any virtual location in the area between me and the TV screen. I find myself specifically looking for content now that supports Atmos so I can make as much use of the Q950T as I can. Installation was simple and quick, even with me able to reuse the surround sound wall mounts I had for the previous system. Pairing the remote speakers was quick and intuitive. Since I also have a Samsung TV, the volume is controlled through the main TV remote which makes things simple. I'm looking forward to many more movie nights with the family this winter!

The Q950T has a large and immersive soundstage!

BooneFam5 11/25/2020

The Q950T delivers a wide soundstage with balanced audio throughout the room. It has more than enough punch to feel like you're in a small movie theater. This Soundbar is massive yet slim enough to sit in front of most TV's. Bonus: a wall mount is included in the box! As soon as I opened the Smart Things app it recognized the Q950T and easily added it. If you prefer more visual controls Smart Things offers just that along with being Alexa enabled. I listed to a few high-quality Dolby Atmos demos and made minor adjustments to the factory settings. I then watching Godzilla and Ready Player one, I almost forgot I was in the living room and not my dedicated home theater. Sound separation is amazing, the center channel projects clear vocals no matter what volume it's at. In a dedicated theater you want to feel the bass not hear it, the Q950T sub does an excellent job of that. Dolby Atmos and DTSx affects are very challenging to accomplish whiteout physical speakers in your ceiling. Somehow this amazing Soundbar pulls it off well, the timing of reflective audio and clarity is immersive!!! When listing to music you'll appreciate hearing sounds you may not have heard before. It's nearly impossible to listen at max volume though very clear it's just that loud. The wide soundstage really shows out when listing to music, especially live concerts! Play some Hip-Hop or EDM and you'll feel like you're at a Nightclub in NY or Miami! I've added a few pics to show the size differences between the Q950T and their mid-tear Q70T. Though it's large it's not an eyesore or intrusive. My only small gripe is that the display is on top, why???? Everything else is near perfection! You will not be disappointed with the Q950T, it's worth the premium!

Best in class Dolby Atmos Soundbar system

GKBINSDR 11/25/2020

I have been on the hunt for a good Dolby Atmos system for a while now, and I think I have found mine! I have used the Samsung HW-Q950T for over three weeks now and am completely blown away by its performance. Here are the details of my experience... Look and Feel: The shape of the soundbar seems a little odd when you look at it for the first time with its angular finish on the side. But you will start admiring it and will be amazed how much that shape makes a difference in your sound experience once you start using it. The unique shape on the sides equips the soundbar to project sound in different directions which will give you a premium immersive surround sound. Also the soundbar features the 'Kvadrat textiles' finish which gives it an elegant and premium look unlike a typical plastic or mesh finish. The surround speakers are equally elegant in the looks and adds to the complete immersive sound experience with their added up firing speakers. Setup: The surround speakers as well as the woofer are true wireless in a sense that they do not connect to a receiver. You simply connect all of the devices to a power sources and you are good to go. This gives an advantage as well as flexibility to place them wherever you want without worrying about long cables connecting each other running across the home (Since all of the components are true wireless the sequence of connecting them in the setup process is crucial so please follow the instructions carefully to save time and avoid frustration). The soundbar has 2 HDMI inputs and supports eARC. The other HDMI input comes in handy when you want to connect a secondary device other than tv. Also if your tv supports eARC, then any device connected to TV will also have the dolby atmos capabilities since the eARC allows lossless passthrough for the sound. This is a big advantage which allows to enjoy true 4d sound even with the connected devices. Performance: This is by far the best Dolby Atmos system I have come across. The up firing speakers both on the soundbar as well as the speakers provide a very immersive 3d sound. This system features a 9.1.4 setup and the sound levels can be adjusted on each module independently. Interestingly enough the audio settings go from -6 to 6 so few users might miss this . The woofer adds a nice rumbling effect which you can sense on the floor. Hook this up to a projector to see the living room convert to a mini theater, grab your popcorn and jump right in!

Stellar Surround, Power and Clarity

kaintel 11/24/2020

We recently purchased the Samsung HW-Q950T soundbar to replace our current entry-grade soundbar in the living room. We knew to expect a big difference not only because it is a higher class of device than our previous soundbar, but also since it supports so many of the latest codecs and standards. This Samsung beast hosts 20 individual speakers that are assigned to 14 discrete audio channels. I could go into technical details about how these channels are distributed, but what really matters is the experience of the test drive. I knew to expect a major increase in the quality of audio as we recently purchased a competitor's similarly high-end sound bar that also supports Dolby Atmos with up-firing speakers. The big difference between these units is that the other one did not come with any rear satellite speakers. We learned that in a large living room like ours the spatial audio delivered by Atmos by the competitor's soundbar wasn't very well defined. While it had great audio quality and filled the room with sound it failed to convince you that sound was coming from specific locations around and above you. This is where the Samsung Q950T blew the competition away. Having the wireless rear speakers that aim audio both toward the listener as well as a separate channel aimed upward to bounce sound off your ceiling made a huge difference. I've struggled to find a good location for one of these speakers, but even though its placement is not quite symmetric with the other speakers it doesn't seem to throw off the experience. With this setup I even found myself occasionally looking over my shoulder at the sounds it threw only to realize I was fooled by the system. If you're looking for Atmos with a soundbar having the wireless rears that are included with the Q950T is essential! Sound quality of this bar is fantastic to my untrained ears. Dialogue is clear and music is sharp and punchy when the lows drive the beefy wireless sub. This unit is no slouch in the power department. Even at 1/3 of max volume we have more that enough immersion throughout our open kitchen and living room space. When I did crank up the juice I couldn't hear any distortion other than my wife yelling at me to "turn it down! It's too loud!" Setup was a breeze and it integrates into the Smartthings app on my Galaxy phone. The built in Alexa was easy to setup and works great. We are exceptionally pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it. Bottom line--it delivers.

So satisfying

This system sounds great. I used to have a 5.1 system, but this is different. It integrates seamlessly with my TV. Easy to setup, with amazing sound. I never really thought you could have that in theater experience at home, but with the right TV and sound system, you can. I love the effects with ATMOS. I have watched movies just to experience the effect. I love that some streaming services (Disney+, Netflix) are utilizing it. It is noticeable when absent. In have found watching regular TV can seem disappointing when you have been using this system. Its not the fault of the soundbar, its just the system is so good when it utilizes the full rear and height effects. It is easy to setup out of the box (a big and HEAVY box) . Everything connects wirelessly. You plug each speaker into power and thats it. Simple A little too simple perhaps? The instruction show that you should angle the rear speakers in. But the mounts attach to the rear wall at a 90 degree. I ended up placing them on a table behind me, and the effect was much better. The subwoofer is great. It replaces a much bigger one I had, but it sound 'bigger'. It goes deep and you feel it. I don't know how accurate it sounds with music, but movies it excels. I think overall, it met most of my expectations. And exceeded many others. I did not think I would appreciate a simplified soundboard system after years with a dedicated receiver and separate speakers, but really do.

The Great Samsung HW-Q950T 9.1.4ch Soun

The speaker offers solid performance for both movies and music. Depending on what you're currently listening to, you have the option to adjust based off of your own personal selection. The aesthetics of the speaker is sleek and not too bulky. It also comes with a remote with multiple functions as well. You can play a movie or music at its loudest selection without any distortion and that was an important factor for us when deciding on a speaker. With Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Q symphony sound quality is amazing. Overall, it is a very impressive speaker. The seamless connectivity made it a breeze to connect, I can now play music from my phone by just tapping the speaker with my phone, and tell Alexa to play a song or story, I am very satisfied with the purchase.
